Can you turn off ads in the Pinterest app? (iPhone 2026)

Pinterest has no setting that turns ads off in the iPhone app. Here is what its privacy controls actually change, and how to look at boards you’ve already made without ads.

Your boards on iPhone, without the ads or the feed.

No. The Pinterest app on an iPhone has no switch that turns ads off, and there is no paid version of Pinterest without them. Pinterest’s own help page on ads says so: “While you can’t turn off ads completely, you can limit the kinds of information we use to pick which ads you see.”

What you can change is which ads you get, not how many. This guide covers the iPhone settings that do that, what they leave alone, and what to do if you mainly want your own boards without a feed of promoted pins.

What you can change in the Pinterest app

Hide an ad

Open the three-dot menu on a promoted pin and tell Pinterest you want to see fewer like it. Pinterest says it uses that feedback to show more relevant ads later. It steers the ads. It does not cut the number.

Block an advertiser

Open the advertiser’s profile, open the three-dot menu, choose Block and confirm. Pinterest lets you block up to 1,000 advertisers. Useful for one company you keep seeing. Useless against everyone else.

Turn off personalised ads

This stops Pinterest using what advertisers know about you from outside Pinterest — a shop’s customer list, or pages you visited on its site — to choose ads.

  1. In the Pinterest app, tap your profile picture in the bottom right.
  2. Tap your profile photo in the top left to open settings.
  3. Tap Privacy and data.
  4. Switch off Use of partner info.

You will see the same number of ads, chosen with less information about you. Pinterest notes that the setting doesn’t cover purchases you start on Pinterest.

Ask iOS not to track Pinterest

On the iPhone itself: open Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and switch Pinterest off. Pinterest says ads become “less personalised”. Again, not fewer.

Pinterest moves these menus from time to time. If the steps don’t match what you see, its pages on personalised ads and blocking an account have the current ones.

What those settings do not do

  • They do not remove ads from the home feed or from search.
  • They do not hide product pins that nobody paid to promote. Those can still fill a page with things to buy.
  • They do not work inside another app. An ad blocker or a Chrome extension cannot change what the Pinterest app shows.

So if you are in the app to discover new ideas, the settings above are the end of the road on iPhone. If you are there to go back to boards you already made, there is another way.

Your own boards without ads

Pinx is our app for iPhone and iPad. It signs in with your Pinterest account and opens the boards you created. It shows the pins you saved and nothing else: no home feed, no promoted pins, no suggestions.

That comes with limits worth knowing first:

  • Pinx can’t show your home feed, search Pinterest or open boards you follow. Pinterest only lets other apps open boards you created.
  • It can’t play video pins. It shows the cover, with a button that opens the pin in Pinterest.
  • It only reads. To save a new pin or start a board, you still use Pinterest.

Pinx is free for 25 boards of your choice, with up to 50 pins on each. Pinx Pro opens every board and every pin. It is a single purchase of £2.99 or $2.99, not a subscription. Get Pinx for iPhone.

Our longer guide to getting rid of ads on Pinterest also covers the browser, where an extension can hide ads on pinterest.com.

Common questions

Can you turn off ads in the Pinterest app on iPhone?

No. Pinterest says you can’t turn ads off completely. Its settings change which ads you see.

Is there a Pinterest Premium or paid plan without ads?

No. Pinterest doesn’t offer one.

Does Limit Ad Tracking or App Tracking Transparency remove Pinterest ads?

No. Turning tracking off for Pinterest makes ads less personalised. The feed still has ads.

Will hiding ads or blocking advertisers mean fewer ads?

Pinterest doesn’t say it does. It describes hiding an ad as feedback that makes future ads more relevant, and blocking as a way to stop seeing one advertiser.

Does Pinx block ads inside Pinterest?

No. Pinx doesn’t change the Pinterest app. It is a separate app that shows only your own boards, which have no ads in them.

Pinx is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pinterest, Inc. We checked Pinterest’s iPhone settings against its help pages on 26 October 2026.
