How to download a Pinterest board
Pinterest lets you download one image at a time and a copy of your account data. Here is how to get a whole board you made onto your phone or computer, and what each way gives you.

Pinterest has no button that downloads a whole board. Its help page covers downloading one pin at a time. It also lets you request a copy of your account data, which is a different thing.
This page is about boards you made: the kitchen you’re planning, the wedding, the references you’ve collected for work. There are three ways to get them onto your phone or computer:
- One pin at a time, in Pinterest. Fine for a handful of images.
- A copy of your Pinterest data. Pinterest emails you a download link. Its help page doesn’t say what the copy contains.
- A whole board at once, in a separate app. Every image, with the titles and links, in one file.
One pin at a time, in Pinterest
This is Pinterest’s own download, and it works on any pin you can see, not just your own.
- On a computer: open the pin, click the three-dot menu next to the image and choose Download image.
- In the app: open the pin, tap the three-dot menu underneath it and tap Download image. On an iPhone the image goes to Photos. On Android it goes to your gallery.
Pinterest says not every pin can be downloaded. If you don’t see Download image, it suggests trying from the home feed, or in a browser instead of the app.
For a board of 300 pins, that’s 300 downloads, and each file arrives on its own, without the pin’s title or the link it came from.
A copy of your Pinterest data
Pinterest lets you request everything it holds about your account. Its help page gives the steps:
- On a computer: click the More options icon at the bottom left, then Settings and Privacy and data. Under Request your data, click Start request.
- In the app: tap your profile picture in the bottom right, then your profile photo in the top left. Tap Privacy and data, then Request your data and Start request.
Pinterest says it can take up to 48 hours to email you a download link, which comes through a company called SendSafely. The help page doesn’t list what the copy contains or how it is laid out. It’s a copy of your account data rather than a download of a board, so if it’s the images you want, look at what arrives before you rely on it.
A whole board at once, in Pinx
Pinx is our app for iPhone, iPad and Android. It signs in with your Pinterest account, opens the boards you made, secret ones included, and can export them.
To export one board, open it, tap the More button (the three dots) at the top and choose Export Board…. To export several, or all of them, go to Settings and tap Export Archive…, then pick the boards. You get a single .zip file to save or share, containing:
- Every image, full size, in a folder for each board, with a folder inside for each section.
- An index.html page that shows the boards as they were, with titles, descriptions and links. It opens in any browser and needs no internet connection.
- A spreadsheet, pins.csv, with each pin’s board, section, title, description, the website it came from and its link on Pinterest.
Your notes and tags from Pinx go into the page and the spreadsheet too, unless you switch that off.
If you only want some pins, open the board, tap Select, choose them and tap Save. On an iPhone they go to Photos. On Android they go to your gallery, in a Pinx folder.
What it can’t do:
- Other people’s boards. Pinterest only lets other apps open boards you created, so Pinx can’t download a board you follow or found in search.
- Videos. Pinterest doesn’t share pin videos with other apps. For a video pin you get its cover image.
- Very large exports in one go. If an archive gets too big for one file, Pinx asks you to export fewer boards at a time.
Pinx only reads from Pinterest. Exporting a board doesn’t change or remove anything on it.

Keeping a board for offline
If what you want is to look at a board without a connection, rather than a file, Pinx can also download boards to your phone and open them offline. Search across your pins works offline too. The features page has the details.

Common questions
Can you download a whole Pinterest board?
Not in Pinterest. It downloads one image at a time. An app that opens your own boards, such as Pinx, can export a whole board as one file.
Can I download someone else’s board?
Not with Pinx, and not with Pinterest’s own download except one pin at a time. Pinterest only lets other apps open boards you created.
Does the Pinterest data download include the images?
Pinterest’s help page doesn’t say what the copy contains. Request it and look before you count on it.
Can I download secret boards?
Yes, if they’re yours. Pinx opens your secret boards along with your public ones, and exports them the same way.
Can I use the images I download?
Most images on Pinterest belong to whoever made them, and downloading one doesn’t change that. Keeping them for your own reference is one thing. Publishing them or using them in paid work needs the owner’s permission.
